Eric Fornell is the vice chairman of investment banking for Wells Fargo Securities in New York City. Outside of his professional life, Eric Fornell is involved with the nonprofit North Shore Land Alliance, a group dedicated to the conservation of nature and historical sites on Long Island in New York.
Among other programs, the North Shore Land Alliance aids in conservation efforts through a range of educational opportunities. These include the group’s Long Island Water Education Program, founded in 2014 and targeted toward local fifth and sixth grade students. Students participate in classroom lessons as well as a field trip to Cold Spring Harbor to learn about the importance of keeping Long Island’s aquifer clean through the proper treatment of local streams, bays, and the Long Island Sound.
In September of 2015, the US Fish and Wildlife Service awarded the program a $30,500 grant to help it continue through the next school year. As of the end of spring semester in 2016, 2,400 students from 17 different schools had learned about conservation through the program.
