Students at St. George’s have the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of ocean and marine life thanks to the Geronimo program. The Geronimo is a 69-foot cutter, a beautiful sailing ship owned by the school. Students in good academic standing can apply to board the Geronimo for a several-week-long sailing expedition.
The program takes students across the Atlantic, through the Mediterranean, and into the Canary Islands. Students get to experience the varied cultures of Spain, Greece, and Puerto Rico as they travel the world.
Students also learn about marine sciences as they travel. They have the opportunity to view ocean creatures up close and see how ecosystems work together. The Geronimo takes crew members to a number of unique caves and beaches, allowing for geologic studies as well during this demanding and well-rounded program.
